About Us.
Every local church is a unique expression of the universal body of Christ. While we share our core beliefs and mission with all true churches around the world, we also hold distinct values and secondary convictions that meaningfully shape who we are. The statements below reflect both our widely shared core beliefs as well as our distinct values and convictions.
Our Mission
We exist to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ who seek to live out the great commandments and fulfill the great commission.
Glorifying God - This is the supreme goal of our lives and the purpose of God’s creation.
“...everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” - Isaiah 43:7
Making Disciples - By disciples we mean those who have repented and believed in the gospel and are committed to growing into spiritual maturity and following Jesus.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples” - John 8:31
The Great Commandments
Jesus was asked, “‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?’ And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” - Mt. 22:37-39
The Great Commission
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Mt. 28:18-20
Our Vision
Our vision is to continuously grow as a community of passionate disciples of Jesus who are committed to loving God wholeheartedly, loving others deeply, and pursuing our mission with purpose. We aim to fulfill this vision by focusing on three key areas:
Worship - All of our lives exist for the honor and glory of God.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship” - Rom 12:1
Discipleship - We are committed to pursuing spiritual maturity and holiness, supporting and exhorting one another on the narrow path toward Christlikeness.
“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ” - Eph. 4:16
Evangelism - We desire to see people from every tribe, tongue, and nation reached with the truth of the Gospel.
“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” - Mark 16:15
Our Values
Christ-Centered Truth - We are not an organization, but a local expression of the greater body of Christ. Therefore, everything we do is centered on exalting Jesus and the work He has done to bring us peace with God and one another. We believe we can only do this by holding fast to the absolute truth revealed in the 66 books of the Bible. 1
Expository Preaching - Our goal is to preach the Bible in a way that is most faithful to God’s intended meaning of the Scripture. Most Sundays you will hear a pastor teach from a book of the Bible in sequential order, building upon the previous week. We believe the “word of God, does the works of God,” and continuously builds up the church over time. 2
Spirit-Dependence - We rely fully on the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us, fulfilling God’s purposes in our lives, the Church, and the world. Through regular prayer, we seek God’s guidance, moving forward with open hands and trusting His direction to lead us beyond our own limited strategies. 3
Continual Discipleship - We place a high emphasis on discipleship at Hosea, understanding that spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. Surrounded by a culture that often leads us to complacency, we strive to resist that temptation, pressing into God’s sanctifying work all throughout our lives. We encourage one another to continually grow in Christ, constantly pursuing greater holiness and maturity. 4
Christian Liberty - We believe each person must follow Jesus as Lord, bearing individual responsibility to obey His commands. While we are united in Jesus, we respect each person’s freedom to discern and live out their faith in accordance with God’s Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 5
Authenticity - We are committed to practicing our faith in an authentic way, avoiding empty formality and embracing genuine love for God and one another. 6
Multicultural - We believe that the gospel cuts to the heart of every people group. Our desire is to reach and represent all ethnic backgrounds in our city through authentic preaching, while celebrating diverse cultural heritages in natural, God-honoring ways. 7
Hospitality - We place a strong emphasis on showing Christlike love, mercy, and hospitality to our neighbors and friends in our city. 8
God-designed families - We aim to follow God’s design for family, equipping husbands, wives, and children to serve and follow Jesus, knowing that strong, biblical families are foundational to our church. 9
Missions - Jesus has commissioned us to go into all the world and preach the gospel. We are committed to fulfilling this great commission through church planting and other missional efforts, sharing His love and truth with our city and beyond. 10
